Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational qualification

  • A degree (graduation) in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
  • You must have passed graduation between 01.01.2023 and 01.09.2026, both days included.

Who is not eligible

  • Anyone who has already done, or is doing, apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, with Canara Bank or any other organisation, and anyone whose apprenticeship was ended through their own fault.
  • Anyone with training or job experience of one year or more after finishing their qualification.
  • Ex-Servicemen and Disabled Ex-Servicemen. There is no Ex-Servicemen reservation in this engagement.

Local language

If your Class 10 or Class 12 mark sheet or certificate shows that you studied the local language of the state you opt for, you do not need to take the language test. Everyone else takes a local language test during document verification, and anyone who fails it is not engaged.

Medical fitness

You will be engaged only if you are declared medically fit as per the bank's requirements.

Disability categories

The seats are identified as suitable for Visual Impairment (blindness and low vision), Hearing Impairment (deaf and hard of hearing), Orthopedically Challenged/Locomotor Disability (including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, acid attack victims, and spinal deformity or injury without neurological or limb dysfunction), Intellectual Disability (autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disability, mental illness), and multiple disabilities among these. Only benchmark disabilities (40% or more) count. A temporary disability certificate is not accepted.

Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 Selection Process

  1. State-wise merit list: Candidates are ranked state by state, highest first, by their percentage in 12th Standard (HSC/10+2) or Diploma. If two candidates have the same percentage, the older one ranks higher.
  2. Minimum marks: You need at least 60% in 12th or Diploma (55% for SC/ST/PwBD). Fractions are ignored, so 59.99% counts as below 60% and 54.99% as below 55%.
  3. Document verification and local language test: Your details are checked against original documents. The language test is held at the same time if it applies to you.
  4. Medical fitness: Final engagement depends on being declared medically fit.
  5. Digital apprenticeship contract: Selected candidates receive a digital contract on the NATS portal. Accept it within the deadline. You are not engaged until the contract is approved on NATS.

The merit list is based only on what you enter in the online application. If a mismatch shows up at document verification, your application is disqualified. If you have a CGPA/OGPA, convert it to a percentage and bring a certificate from your board or university explaining the conversion norms. The percentage is total marks obtained in all subjects across all semesters or years, divided by the aggregate maximum marks, multiplied by 100.

A state- and category-wise wait list is kept for one year from the result, or until the next engagement exercise, whichever is earlier. Candidates on it may be called once to fill seats left by people who did not join.

Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 Exam Pattern

The advertisement does not mention any written examination. Selection is by merit on 12th/Diploma marks, followed by document verification, a local language test (where applicable) and medical fitness. There is no exam pattern to prepare for.

Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 Syllabus

There is no syllabus, because the advertisement has no written test. Only candidates who have not studied the opted local language in Class 10 or 12 take a local language test. The advertisement does not describe its format: Check official notification.

  • Uploading a declaration or signature in capital letters, or in someone else's handwriting.
  • Choosing a state whose local language you cannot read or write, when you studied it in neither Class 10 nor Class 12.
  • Not accepting the NATS digital contract within the deadline.

Preparation Tips

  • Collect your 12th/Diploma mark sheets now and work out your exact percentage using the bank's formula.
  • Choose your state with care. You can pick only one, and merit is calculated state by state.
  • If you will take the local language test, practise reading and writing that language before document verification.
  • Keep your NATS login, the bank registration number and the e-receipt together, because you will need them at every stage.
